President's Message
Dear BHLAC Families,
I’m Simon Baird, your new President at Box Hill Little Athletics Centre (BHLAC), and I’m thrilled to welcome you to the 2024-25 season! Whether you’re a returning member or joining us for the first time, I’m excited to see what we’ll accomplish together this year. For those new to our community, we warmly welcome you and encourage you to get involved. There are many ways to contribute on program days, and we’d love for you to sign up, lend a hand, or reach out to our committee for guidance. Your involvement is incredibly rewarding and helps make BHLAC stronger for everyone. We must also express our deep gratitude to our outgoing President, Dean Williams. Over the past five seasons, Dean has led our Centre with unwavering dedication, steering us through challenging global times while growing our membership year after year. His presence on the track will be sorely missed. Dean was honoured with life membership at our AGM earlier this year, a well-deserved recognition of his commitment and determination. On behalf of all our members, we extend a heartfelt thank you to Dean and hope to see him back on the track soon. Last season, BHLAC continued its strong tradition of excellence at State Track and Field meets, with many of our athletes achieving personal bests. Whether competing at Box Hill, in regional meets, or at State Carnivals, there are fantastic opportunities for every little athlete to shine. I encourage you to speak with our Committee or your Age Group Managers (AGMs) to learn how you can make the most of the Little Athletics experience. With the excitement of the Paris 2024 Olympics fresh in our minds, there’s no better time to get back on track. We’re especially proud of BHLAC’s very own Georgia Griffith, who represented Australia in the 1500m. Congratulations, Georgia, you’ve undoubtedly inspired a new generation of athletes to chase their dreams and achieve their personal bests. As we begin this new season, we also bid farewell to several dedicated committee members: Aiden Schansemma, Aggie Sutherland, Rosa Deol, and Sam Hassett. The work that goes on behind the scenes is vital to creating a great Little Athletics experience, and we owe much of our success to their tireless efforts. Thank you all for your selflessness, commitment, and dedication. We have big shoes to fill! In line with our commitment to improving communication within the club, we’re excited to introduce the BHLAC WhatsApp Community. Over the past few seasons, WhatsApp has become an essential tool for staying connected, and it’s been widely adopted for various club activities. To streamline our communication and make it easier for everyone, we’re consolidating our existing groups into a single WhatsApp Community. Throughout September 2024, we will be transitioning from Stack Team App to WhatsApp for all club communications. As your new committee, we promise to you to listen and continuously improve. Your feedback is essential in helping us strengthen our Centre. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly with any ideas for improvement or feedback. Together, we have an enormous opportunity to build on our successes. I can’t wait to see you all back on track. Best regards, Simon Baird President, Box Hill Little Athletics Club e: [email protected] |
