Hi BHLAC families. Hope you all have enjoyed some new freedoms over this long weekend. It feels like we are writing the same things each week at the moment but rest assured, we are moving forward and getting very close to starting the season. It has been a roller coaster of information this last few weeks. The vaccination requirement has gone one way and then the other. Just to clarify the latest information from LAVic. The is NO requirement for anyone associated with Little Athletics (Athletes, officials or parents) to disclose your vaccination status. At this stage we are currently waiting for LAVic to approve our revised Covid-19 Safe Plan in line with the 2021 season protocols. As soon as we receive the go-ahead we will announce the program and start date. At this stage we have earmarked next Sunday 7th November to commence however this is subject to confirmation. The revised season calendar will be released as soon as LAVic release theirs. We really need to see the schedule for Regional and State events so as we cn then back fill our schedule as much as we can around the main events. As we say, look out for our updates this week and we hope to see you next Sunday (fingers crossed) Little Aths season portal - Now OpenA reminder to all families that the BHLAC Season Portal is now open. It is not too late to join. If you have not registered your children as yet, please click on the link to go directly to the BHLAC Registration Portal below. A reminder to new parents considering Little Athletics for your child, you must be a fully registered athlete with LAVic to be able to try Little Athletics. Click on the same link below to regsiter https://www.boxhilllac.com.au/registration.html Uniforms at BHLACAll registered athletes must wear an official Box Hill Little Athletics uniform at the weekly and competition days. Over the coming days the club website will go live with the online shop allowing you to purchase the uniform online. Alternatively you will be able to purchase the uniform at the track on the first official day back. Important roles for the upcoming seasonWith the season poised to commence over the coming weeks we still need to finalise some important roles within the program. Age Group Managers are a vital role for each age group. The Age Group Managers are responsible for managing the age group through the weekly program. Over the years we have been very fortunate for parents to take ownership of this role. Especially if their child may be in the same group. Traditionally the AGM from the previous season has the option to continue with this role for the upcoming season. We are calling on previous AGM’s and any new parents that would like to be an AGM this season to contact the club as soon as possible. This season we are looking to form an IT & Timing Group. The IT & Timing group would be required to manage and assist with the weekly timing requirements on program day. Each week we require 4 parents to manage and handle the Timing Computers (Front & Back straights) Our aim is to form a group of approximately 8 parents that can rotate and share the IT timing role. A roster would be developed allowing parents to have a regular week off but equally ensuring that we have enough competent parents that know how to operate the systems each event day. COVID Safe Official. As we ease off restrictions and commence our new season, the need for an official CSO will be required. Our club Vice President, Peter Walsh was our club CSO last year. This year we are looking for a parent to nominate as the Senior Covid Safe Official. This person will be required to oversee the Covid Safe role and manage the team weekly of Covid Safe Assistants. BHLAC Secretary. Our club has been very fortunate to have had an outstanding Club Secretary over the last few seasons. Rajinder Atwol has made an outstanding contribution to BHLAC and like many parents has stayed on even after her children have outgrown Little Athletics. As this is Rajinder’s last season we are looking for a parent to take on this role and spend time with Rajinder learning the role before she leaves. If you would like to know more about the Secretary role at BHLAC, please let Rajinder know by emailing her directly at [email protected] All these roles mentioned above are vital to the success of the Little Athletics program. If you would like to take a more active role in the running of the club, we would love to hear from you as soon as possible. Please email our club President if you have any queries at [email protected] or call on 0417346382 Coaching at BHLACBHLAC is very fortunate once again to have highly decorated coach Steve Cain and his team assist our club with coaching for the upcoming season. Whilst Steve runs a weekly training program each Wednesday afternoon during the season for members, he also provides a range of programs throughout the week that may be perfect for your little athletes that are looking for that bit extra. Head on over to the Multus website for further information regarding programs and pricing. https://www.multus.com.au Stay connected and up to date at BHLACFor all current members and new ones looking to join BHLAC we strongly recommend that you join our Facebook page and TeamApp. TeamApp is the fastest way we can deliver news, updates and important information throughout the week which will be delivered to you in a text message and to your nominated email address. The BHLAC Committee would like to thank all the parents that have contacted the club and nominated for a role. Whether it is an Age Group Manager or even an in the IT timing support team, we greatly appreciate the support to help the season be a great one for our kids. However we still need more of you to help us out. We are still looking for Covid Safety Officers to support Peter Walsh our Head CSO. We need more computer literate parents that can help with the timing on event days and we need a parent who thinks they can handle the Club Secretary role to take over from Rajinder by the end of the season. If you're kids are invested in Little Athletics and you will be around the club for years to come, help make a difference and help the committee make BHLAC even better. See you all very soon. Dear Parents,
Please read this very important update from LAVic regarding individual vaccination status for Little Athletics. For Victorian Centres: Following on from LAVic’s message of Thursday 21st October (‘Season 21/22 and vaccinations’) the Victorian State Government’s Department of Health & Human Services has advised of changes to application of the vaccination directions to community sport, and in turn to Little Athletics. Effective immediately, the vaccination status of our volunteers – parents/guardians, officials, coaches, Committee members, Associate Members, Honorary Members and others necessary to conduct our sport – is not required to be checked or recorded if they are attending for Little Athletics activities. In practical terms, parents/guardians and all volunteers – vaccinated and unvaccinated – can attend Little Athletics activities without having to confirm their vaccination status. The Vaccination FAQs on the LAVic website and the LAVic membership registration portal are currently being revised and updated to align with these changes. In the light of the changes, LAVic will be reaching out to those Members that have requested a refund on vaccination grounds, to confirm their membership intentions. Further details will follow regarding season updates over the coming days. Thank you Hi BHLAC families. An exciting announcement today with restrictions easing this coming Friday. With the state achieving an 80% double vaccination result, hopefully this means that we should be able to commence Little Athletics over the next week or two. We are eagerly waiting to receive the required Covid protocols from LAVic. Please be patient with us this week whilst we finalise the requirements with our governing bodies. This week we hope to be able to provide the updated season calendar, program information and Covid safe protocols that we need approved in order for us to commence. Make sure you check our updates this week via TeamApp, Facebook and your emails. Important information from LAVicEarlier this week LAVic released the first stage of information regarding the return to Little Athletics for clubs. As you will read below, there are a number of very important pieces of information we as a club and you as parents need to be aware of prior to starting the season. Please read carefully. Commencement of Track & Field Training for Metro Melbourne Centres The State Government has announced that community sport training can commence from this Friday 22nd October. However, the Restricted Activity Directions are not expected to be available until the morning of Friday 22nd October and accordingly, LAVic will finalise the release of the Protocols and circulate as soon as possible. Centres cannot commence sanctioned training until the Protocols have been received and that the Centre determines they have the necessary resources to comply. Critical to this will be the acknowledgement and understanding of the role of the CSO (an updated CSO Duty Statement will be released simultaneously). Centres are also advised to seek approval from their venue managers prior to commencing training. For many Centres, Training may not realistically commence until next week at the earliest. Change to Vaccination Requirements The Victorian State Government’s Department of Health & Human Services has advised of changes to application of the vaccination directions to community sport, and in turn to Little Athletics. Effective immediately, the vaccination status of our volunteers – parents/guardians, officials, coaches, Committee members, Associate Members, Honorary Members and others necessary to conduct our sport – is not required to be checked or recorded if they are attending for Little Athletics activities. On behalf of the BHLAC Committee - Stay safe!! Hi BHLAC families. We hope everyone has had a great week. Hopefully with some exercise or training to gear up for the start of the season. With restrictions starting to ease and vaccination rates getting to the required levels we hope to be starting the Little Athletics season in the coming weeks. As soon as we get the go ahead from the State Government and LAVic we will be able to commence straight away. We have had an extraordinary level of registrations so far. It is really important to hit the ground running as soon as we get the ok to start. Therefore we would really appreciate any families that have not already registered for the upcoming season to do so as quickly as possible, as we still need to finalise Age Group Managers and potentially any new Covid related protocols as part of the eased restrictions. Look out over the next few weeks for any updates. If you haven’t joined our club on TeamApp then we would strongly encourage you to do so as that will give you the latest BHLAC news and offers as soon as they come to hand.
