 Week 2 @ BHLAC was a great day. The sun was out and there was a great atmosphere at the track. With sprints on the front straight, hurdles on the back and 800m circular races we definitely had a full program. Parent support once again was high in numbers and that helped with the very smooth running of the day. It has been extremely pleasing to see so many new members at BHLAC this year. We have over 170 members thus far plus over 50 'come & try' athletes so we are well on our way to achieving a membership level above our previous season which in a Covid restricted year would be an amazing result. This last week BHLAC was awarded a huge financial grant of just over $9,000 from the State Government in round 6 of the Community Sport Sun Shade Grant. This is an amazing result for BHLAC and will allow us to purchase a number of new sun shades which we require. The club would not have received the grant or other ones we have recently received if it were not for Dave Ross. Dave and his wife Tara (U13 girls AGM) are great supporters of BHLAC and we are extremely thankful for all the work they do to help our club. Dave has been responsible for preparing and applying for all our club grant applications. They are not an easy task and are quite time consuming. Sometimes Dave gets next to no time to apply but still makes the time to ensure he gets them done for the club. The BHLAC committee would like to acknowledge Dave for his amazing work in receiving a grant that hundreds (if not thousands) of sporting clubs applied for. Thank you very much Dave!! Champion coach Steve Cain and his team are there for all our BHLAC athletes. With over 50 athletes in the first week attending, registration is vital so as Steve can plan and have the appropriate coaches on hand.
